Helen Olinda Stolte

Helen Olinda Stolte of Greeley, Colorado died on November 10, 2024 at her home. She was born February 23, 1929 to Fred and Tena (Duis) Nienaber at the family home in Washington County, Kansas. She was baptized in the Lutheran church in Lanham, Kansas and confirmed there on March 29, 1942. She was the sixth and youngest child. She was an eager and capable student and attended a rural school in Kansas, and graduated from business college in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was employed by the Elgin Watch Co. in Lincoln until her marriage to Elmer H. Stolte in Lanham, Kansas on November 30, 1947. They lived in Beatrice, Nebraska where she was employed at the City Clerk's office and as secretary at the Wilke Baking Co. She and Elmer celebrated 57 years of marriage and have one daughter, Kathleen Ann.

In 1953 they moved to Greeley. She was a stay-at-home mom and was active in school activities, a leader of a Brownie troop and also a Girl Scout leader for several years. She and Elmer were house parents to UNC students for some years. She spent many years employed in doctor's offices in Greeley. After retirement the couple spent ten years traveling the United States in their RV. She loved music, traveling, crafts, knitting and crocheting, cards, cross stitching, puzzles and entertaining and cooking for extended family.

Helen was active in her church, serving as treasurer of the congregation, on the congregational council, women's groups and she sang in the choir for many years. Shortly after making Greeley their home, she joined a new group called the Rangerettes, a Home Demonstration Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer, in 2005, and her son-in-law, Tony Broun.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Broun; 2 step-granddaughters and their husbands; 2 step-great grandsons; 2 step-great granddaughters; her 'chosen daughter,' Lynnie Vaughan; her 'chosen great grandson,' Ryan Regan; and many other nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service for Helen will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2024 at Christ Community Church 1301 15th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634.
