Gary Allan Kuhlman, 70, of Fort Collins, died Monday, June 8, 2015 at Banner Fort Collins Medical Center. Gary was born on November 16, 1944 in San Bernardino, California to Glenn Edward and Bonnie Marguerite (Walz) Kuhlman.
Gary was reared and educated in San Bernardino, graduating from San Bernardino High School in 1962. He enjoyed working in theater and was a member of the Thespians. After high school, Gary attended San Bernardino Valley College, receiving his Associate’s degree. He then entered the US Army and served a tour in Vietnam.
On April 17, 1971, he married Margie Grosz at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in San Bernardino.
After his discharge from the Army, he returned to San Bernardino and began working for San Bernardino County. He retired on November 30, 2001, after 34 years as a traffic engineer. After retirement they lived in San Marcos from December 2001 to 2008. They later moved to New Castle, Colorado. In March of this year, they moved to Fort Collins. Gary was among the first Senior Fire Volunteers and was active with the Traffic Commission in San Marcos.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Fort Collins. Gary was a member of Knights of Columbus, holding a fourth degree and was a past Grand Knight. He was a life member of the American Legion.
Gary was a detail oriented, organized and a technical man. He loved to volunteer and be out among people. Gary was a handyman who could fix almost anything.
He is survived by his wife, Margie of Fort Collins; daughter, Theresa Wellman (Ryan) of San Jose, California; son, Timothy Kuhlman (Jennifer) of Fort Collins and six grandchildren, Elise Wellman, Eleanor Kuhlman, Silas Kuhlman, Oliver Wellman, Henry Kuhlman and Emmett Kuhlman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard.
A Memorial Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 5450 S. Lemay Ave., Fort Collins.
