Fred Allen Hope was born to Fred Edgar Hope and Syble Stella (Freeman) Hope at home near Avery, Lincoln County, Oklahoma on February 5, 1935. He passed away on September 16, 2021 at the U.C. Health Hospital in Loveland, Colorado.
Fred spent part of his youth living with his parents and sister, Lois (Hope) Starr in California. The family moved back to Oklahoma when he was eight. After returning two more sisters were born. Betty (Hope) Quillin and Linda (Hope) Ambrose.
Fred came to Colorado in 1954 with an oil drilling company and met Evelyn Carlock. The two wed on May 28, 1955 in Fort Morgan. In late June they moved to Farmington, New Mexico where sons Michael (Mike) and Craig were born. Daughter, Mary (Hope) Riddle was born the next year in Moab, Utah.
Fred worked most of his work life employed by Arapahoe Drilling in Farmington and after moving to Wiggins in 1971 to join father-in-law, Glen Carlock in ranching, worked for Exeter Drilling of Denver until retiring in 1992. He and Evelyn moved to Greeley in 1978 when Mary graduated from high school.
He and Evelyn loved to travel and spent many years on long road trips seeing the Western States and some journeys to Canada. He also enjoyed wood working, hunting elk with his sister-in-law Elizabeth Garland and her husband, Norm, gambling in every state where they found a casino and the grandchildren.
His family in Oklahoma was an important part of his life.
Fred is survived by Evelyn, Mike (Kathy) Hope, Craig (Barb) Hope and Mary (Johnny) Riddle, grandchildren, Wendi (Hope) Meyer, husband Curt and their children, Paige, Chloe and Wyatt of Kersey, Christine (Hope) Schoneman, husband, Ryan and their daughter, Trinity, of Platteville, Johnny Riddle of Greeley, and Erin (Riddle) Arisman, husband John and their sons Joshua and J.D.
He is also survived by sisters, Betty and Linda of Oklahoma, sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Carlock) Garland of Colorado and Glenda (Carlock) Wagner, of Oklahoma, step-mother-in-law, Phyllis (Washburn) Carlock of Brush, step-brothers-in-law, Rodney (Dana) Washburn and Keith (Marsha) Washburn and nieces and nephews in Oklahoma, Colorado, Oregon and South Dakota.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Syble Hope, sister, Lois (Hope) Starr and brothers-in-law Earl Starr, Jim Quillin and David Ambrose and Norm Garland, Grandson, Joshua Riddle and mother and father-in-law Glen and Mary Carlock.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 24, at Allnutt Funeral Service, Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Cremation will take place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
