She left this life in the most loving, comfortable, and peaceful way possible, surrounded by family. God wrapped his arms around her and welcomed her home. Her family is heartbroken to lose their beloved Mom and Grandma, but they find comfort in knowing she is at peace and joyfully reunited with all those she loved and missed, especially her husband, Pete, who passed away 17 years ago. She enjoyed spending time with her family to help or for fun - it didn’t matter! She loved going to their horse shows, birthday parties, school events, or anything they were involved in, as well as visiting her son’s family in Louisiana. She enjoyed her career that started with working for the city of Pueblo in the Parks and Recreation Department, gradually moving up to working as a Budget Analyst for the Pike and San Isabel National Forest Service, where she retired. Her favorite pastimes included bowling on her five-sister bowling team, watching all types of sports, especially the Denver Broncos, or sitting at the slots waiting for the next big jackpot!
She was very proud of her Croation heritage and took great joy in watching her daughters perform with the Nova Kolo Tamburitza group.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Pete; her parents, John and Rose Mihelich; and her ten brothers and sisters: Katherine Rayburn, Mary Tezak, Jack Mihelich, Nick Mihelich, Joe Mihelich, Anthony Mihelich, Rose Soldano, Pete Mihelich, Phyllis Hart, and John (KC) Mihelich. She is survived by her three children: Reine Carlo, Christine Carlo, and Matthew (Rebecca Brouwer) Carlo. Her six grandchildren who have cherished their time with her: Kayla (Kevin) Contardo, Elizabeth Zadel, Leah Zadel, Little George Zadel, Alex Carlo, and Emma Carlo. Her three step-great-grandchildren: Maddelena (Maddi), Isabella (Izzi) and August (Gus) Contardo. She is also preceded and survived by many nieces, nephews, and in-laws in both the large Mihelich and Carlo families.
