She was born on February 14, 1926, in Denver, CO to Carl Albert and Hazel Arine (Day) Andersen. She grew up in Greeley, CO and lived there until 2015 when she moved to Sidney, NE to be near her daughter.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She graduated from Greeley (Central) High School in 1944. After graduation, she was employed as a telephone operator for the Greeley Telephone Company. She was then employed at the Greeley Dry Goods Company where she met the love of her life, Jerold D. Barnett. She and "Jerry" were married on May 15, 1949. They shared almost sixty wonderful and happy years together. Born to this union were two children.
Betty was active in the PTA and as a Troop Leader in Girl Scouts. She also worked on Election Day for many years. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi, having been a member for over seventy years. Later in life, she was employed by Colorado Market Research Company for several years.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting and many other handcrafts, She also enjoyed Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles. She was the best wife, mother and friend and will greatly be missed.
She is survived by her daughter Karla "Kathy" (Kenneth) Disney of Lodgepole, N.E., granddaughters, Shanna (Tyson) Milam of Bayard, NE and Stephanie Disney (Thomas Payne) of Sidney N.E., great- granddaughters, Kristen and Brooke Milam, Amie and Claira Payne, daughter, Marla, granddaughters, Miranda and Michelle and five other great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Raymond Albert Andersen and her husband, Jerold.
Allnutt Funeral Service in Greeley is entrusted with Betty's funeral arrangements.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Allnutt Funeral Service - Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634. Following the public visitation will be a graveside service at 1:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street, Greeley, CO 80634.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for a later designation.
