Walter Lee Fisher of North Richland Hills, Texas passed away surrounded by loved ones August 13, 2018 at the age of 76. He was one of seven children, born on October 30, 1941 in Climax, Texas to the late William and Uba Fisher.
He married his first wife, Marsha and had 3 children, William Marshall, Jenise and Kenneth and 1 child,
Elizabeth, with his second wife, Kay. On May 9th 1991, he married the love of his life, Nammi Lee of 27
years.
Prophetically, and fitting to his life, the name "Walter" means "ruler of the army". He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960, and proudly served for 32 years before his retirement in 1992.
He was very accomplished earning several medals; meritorious service medal, Army commendation medal, Army achievement medal, national defense service medal and good conduct medal. Badges; driver and mechanic badge, bronze German armed forces proficiency badge. Ribbons; professional development ribbon #4, Army service ribbon and overseas ribbon #7. He was also and expert marksman with a m16 rifle and .45 Caliber pistol.
When he retired, he had been E9 Command Seargent Major for over 7 years. He loved the United States Army and would have served longer if they would have let him.
Beyond being a dedicated soldier, he had many hobbies; including gardening, raising chickens,
motorcycling, bowling, hunting, traveling, flying and building remote control airplanes, fellowshipping
with friends and lending a helping hand, advocating for others and freely gave advice. He became fast
friends with many and his loyalty to them went unmatched.
Left to cherish his memory are loving wife, Nammi Fisher; children Elizabeth Grumbles and husband
Brandon of Celina, Texas; Jenise Birks and husband Jeff of Stafford, VA and Kenneth Fisher and wife Brenda of Spring Branch, Texas; grandchildren Army, Mason, Bailey, Dave, Bob, Hunter, Billy, Jennifer, Will, Cody and Cameron; brother, Bill Ray Fisher of North Richland Hills, Texas.
He was preceded in death by sisters Brendia Watts, Peggy Joyce Fisher, Ruth Ann Fisher and Linda Fisher; Brother Kenneth Earl Fisher; son William Marshall Fisher.
Visitation will from 4-6:00 PM, Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Foust and Son Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, August 20, 2018 also at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
