Ronald (Ron) Arendt passed away, after a prolonged illness, on December 8th 2022 at the age of 83. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Arendt, and step-daughter, Cheryl Taylor. He is survived by his step son and wife, James and Belinda Walker; step son Donald Walker; grand-daughter Amanda Walker; grand-daughter and husband Crystal and Allan Copelen; great grand-children Isabell and Jeramie Copelen; brother and wife, Edgar and Karen Arendt; sister and husband, Mary and Bob Krauski; nephews John, Jeff, and James Arendt; Peter and Matt Krauski.
Ron was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Francis Arendt and Ann Arendt. Ron went to Marquette University High School and right before graduating near the top of his class enlisted in the USAF; where he served an honorable career for 21 years. His initial specialty was working as a weather forecaster and later developed into a proficient computer programmer. Following retirement from the Air Force, he began a second successful information technology career working for major firms such as EDS and Texas Instruments. Along the way, he managed, going to night school, to earn a BA in Finance from the University at Texas at Arlington.
Ron was a voracious reader and music lover with an extensive book and classical music collection. As a lay historian, he shared with family and friends unique insights into American history and it’s numerous wars. He, also, greatly enjoyed classical music which could always be heard streaming from his home office while researching which stocks to invest in. Ron loved to travel and was wanderlust during his retirement years; proud to have visited nearly all the states of America by car.
However, one of Ron’s greatest achievements was his relationship with Bill where he served for 49 years counseling others in their own recovery.
Most importantly, Ron was a beloved husband, father, grand-father and great grand-father. His war stories and history lessons will be missed by all his family and friends. He passed on his love of reading to his great-grand-children; always bringing them new books to read. His humor and wit will remain with us forever. We will have fond remembrances of his love for Mama’s Pizza and Law and Order re-runs.
