His family had been with him the last several days with lots of love and laughter. During this time, Owen's sense of humor was never lost.
Owen was born in Big Wells, Texas, on June 28, 1932 to Nettie Hicks Jackson and Owen Lamar Jackson, Sr. He joined the United States Army in 1945 and served in Germany as a Medic. During his service, Owen discovered a big world of opportunities and college became his goal. With the help of the G. I. Bill (and many part-time jobs), he attended Odessa Junior College as well as Trinity University before completing his college education at the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Accounting.
Owen's accounting career began with Celenase. He then worked for Dart Industries, Inc., El Paso Natural Gas Company, El Paso Products Company, Rexene Products Company and retired from Southwest Organ Bank in Dallas.
Owen's passions were his family, friends and fishing (member for six years and President of the Odessa Bass Club). He also enjoyed hunting with forever friends Paul Cole and Ben Lucas on a deer lease near Big Lake, Texas. The three friends enjoyed 35 years of hunting this deer lease.
