Don was born on May 15, 1951, in Virginia, Minnesota to parents Donald and Inez Moilan. Don loved to fish, including fly and cold-water fishing. He also enjoyed traveling to beautiful locations such as Wyoming and Montana and Alaska. He was a dedicated father who spent his life caring for his family.
Don was a petroleum pioneer in the oil and gas industry for 50 years. He built a great business that provides equipment and services to the industry throughout the United States and around the world. He leveraged his vast knowledge from the industry to establish and install wells that provide water to underdeveloped countries and communities.
In 1973, Donald graduated from Texas Tech University where he met and married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Goode, and celebrated 52 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Mary Moilan, his son Donald W Moilan III and wife Cathy Moilan, Daughter Amanda Gray and husband Gary Gray and daughter, Christina Cooper and husband Matthew Cooper. He has six grandchildren, Reagan Moilan, Michael Moilan, Austin Gray, Ella Gray, Reese Cooper and Benjamin Cooper. He is also survived by his brother Bruce and and his wife Betty, brother Evan and wife Danika, and sister Patricia Crossett and husband John and his aunts Ernestine McCrary and Betty Shaw. Don is preceded in death by his father Donald Wilfred Moilan Sr. his mother Inez Moilan and sister-in-law Betty Moilan.
Don was a devout Christian. He belonged to the White’s Chapel Methodist Church. Donald had a great passion for helping those in need. He contributed in many ways to World Vision and Feed the Children. His legacy will continue by his three children.
Services will be held on June, 5th at 10:00 AM at White’s Chapel Methodist Church with a reception following 11:00AM to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to World Vision and Feed The Children.
