Don Monroe Elliott, our devoted father, brother, uncle, friend and most of all Pop Pop, passed away on March 29, 2023, at his home in Grapevine, TX after a brief battle with cancer. Don was 80 years old.
Born on August 30, 1942, in Galveston, TX, Don grew up in Dallas where he attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and Jesuit High School. Don was a man of strong faith and was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine. He was involved for many years with the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Treasurer for more than 20 years. He was named Knight of the Year in 2012.
Don was a beautifully kind person who always wanted to make sure those around him were taken care of. His compassion knew no bounds and love for others was apparent in his day-to-day interactions. Don didn’t ask or want a lot; he was simple and lived a life that revolved around showing others that kindness and generosity are your greatest accomplishment in life.
Don will be remembered for his kind heart, his gentle spirit, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
Don is survived by his daughter Sara Cooper (David), sister Judy Ward, nephew David Linder (Sarah), niece Tiffani Petersen (Todd), his granddaughter Brooklyn Cooper, and many life-long dear friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Nadean Elliott.
There will be a visitation at J.E. Foust Funeral Home in Grapevine on Monday, April 10th from 5-7 pm, with the Rosary being led by the Knights of Columbus at 6 pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 11 at 11:00 am, followed by a reception. Don will be laid to rest in a private committal ceremony at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
