The youngest of four, she was born March 9, 1921 in Los Angeles County, California to Nathan and Jessie Ogden. She grew up in the greater Los Angeles area, particularly the San Fernando Valley, and met and married the love of her life, Jack Darwin Mooney.
Early in the 1950’s she and Jack, their children, and her parents all moved to Oregon, landing in Rogue River to start with. She and Jack fixed up homes and built homes and sold them often over the years. They owned a plumbing contracting business for many years.
Almost 50 years ago they moved to the state of Washington and mostly lived there until 1992. They moved around from Whidbey Island to Granite Falls to Lake Stevens to Monroe building houses on the side while Jack worked for the plumber’s union. They were a team!
Sometime around 1992 they moved back to Grants Pass. Ruth celebrated her 75th birthday here and remained in Grants Pass the rest of her days.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, a brother and her husband, Jack. Her son, Clyde Mooney, followed her in death on October 29th, 2021. She is survived by a daughter, Jackie Wytcherley, of Grants Pass and a daughter Linda Wigren, of Sacramento, California, in addition to 15 grandchildren and many, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Ruth was strong in her faith and was very interested in biblical history. She was truly a nurturing, fun-loving woman who was a stay-at-home Mom and Grandma. She had a special way of making any occasion “special”. She helped raise some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite place to shop was the “Bon Marche” – code word for the thrift store. She was deeply loved and will be missed.
A service will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Point Cemetery.
