Lu McGuinn Lu was born in Nashville Tennessee on December 9, 1934 she was an only child born to Martha and Chester Borum. Lu married Thomas McGuinn in October of 1964. Thomas was in the Army so they adjusted to military life with lots of traveling. In 1964 they experienced the Alaska earthquake; in 1972 they move their family back to Alaska as they were drawn to its natural beauty and remained there for over a decade. Lu had many horses in Alaska and enjoyed riding. They move to Grants Pass in 1986 when her husband retired. She had a huge heart for all animals especially rescuing homeless and distressed dogs. Lu enjoyed volunteering with the animal shelter and with local law-enforcement agencies. Survivors include her three children: Jack Townes of Rochester New Hampshire, Terry Townes of Alford Florida, Jamee Chapman of Grants Pass Oregon, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas McGuinn and her grandson Chris Chapman. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 4 at 11:00 am at St. Anne Catholic Church in Grants Pass Oregon, with private inurnment at Eagle Point National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Josephine County Animal Shelter: 1420 Brookside Blvd, Grants Pass, OR 97526 or the Rogue Valley Humane Society: PO Box 951, Grants Pass, OR 97528. Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
