David Arthur Gibson, age 80, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, August 4, 2021. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gibson. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Gloria Gibson; son, Richard Gibson; sister, Barbara (Bill) Weir; in-laws Bob (Bobbi) Foucek, Linda Ernest; and many nieces and nephews. We appreciate the love given by our special friends.
David received his bachelor’s degree from University of Omaha. His master’s was from Western Michigan University. He also earned extra credits at Sonoma State College, Central Michigan University, Michigan State University, and University of Michigan. David taught at Newhall Junior High and Rogers High School. He coached wrestling, football, track and field, and cross-country. The family would like to thank the wonderful providers of Spectrum Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021, with visitation one hour prior, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1481 Baldwin St., Jenison, 49428. Pastor Brian West will be officiating. Interment is at Grandville Cemetery. In honor of David and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sunset Legacy Foundation (725 Baldwin St., Jenison), Spectrum Hospice (750 Fuller Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503), or Alzheimer’s Association.
