Andrew J. Peter “AJ” Holwerda, age 30, passed away unexpectedly and went to be with his Lord Tuesday, September 27, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Terry Fales; grandparents Jack Holwerda, Kathryn Holwerda-Harrison, Arthur Boekestein, and Bertha Boekestein.
AJ will be lovingly remembered by his wife of four years, Jamie Holwerda (Fales); parents Jack and Arlene Holwerda; siblings Jackie and Nathan Messelink (Hayla, Chloe, Lucy), Aaron Holwerda, Jana and Nathan English (Benjamin, Norah, Olive, Ari, Psalm); Jamie’s mom, Becky Fales; Jamie’s siblings Benn and Kristen, Jeff Fales; aunts, uncles, and cousins; and grandfather, Roger Harrison.
AJ deeply loved and was fiercely loyal to his friends and family. He served the Lord with all his heart - he talked the talk, and walked the walk. He was a strong believer in what the Bible says, and shared his witness.
Some of his hobbies included shooting, playing games, and spending time with his friends and family. He was always there for anyone who needed him, always willing to help in any circumstance and was a stabilizing force to many.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Cook Funeral Home (West building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 3, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at Sparta Baptist Church, 38 S. State St., Sparta, Michigan. Rev. Nathan Wagner will officiate. Interment will be at Garfield Park Cemetery in Grand Rapids. In honor of AJ, contributions may be made to Focus on the Family - Option Ultrasound Program.
