Ruth Cochran

Ruth Eleanor (Denny) Cochran was born on August 23, 1934 and died on January 28, 2022. Ruth was the fifth of seven children born to Andrew and Ruth Denny in Kansas City, Missouri. As a child, she lived in West Line and Stockton, Missouri, and later Kansas City. She graduated high school in Grandview Missouri where she was a two-year member of the National Honor Society. Two months after graduating, she married Bill Cochran in 1952. They were married for 68 years until his death in December 2020.

Ruth was primarily a homemaker and mother to her two children, Cole and Sarah. She worked part-time in the cafeteria at Grandview High school during the time that Cole attended there. She always made sure she was waiting at the end of the serving line so she could pass his tray to him when he came through. She was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church after she and Bill and were married and later of First Baptist Church of Grandview where she volunteered in the nursery. Over the years she and Bill lived in Kansas City, Belton, Grandview and Raymore. They spent their final years at Colonial Oaks Senior Living in Leawood, Kansas.

Ruth and Bill shared a love of watching John Wayne movies and listening to Bluegrass music together. During visits to Colonial Oaks after Bill was gone, you would always find the TV on and a John Wayne movie playing. She was also a fan of Roy Rogers and the Waltons. She was a favorite aunt to many of her nieces and nephews and is fondly remembered at family reunions for always being interested in what they were doing. We will miss her, but we find comfort in knowing that she has now been reunited in heaven with the love of her life, Bill.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her son, Cole Cochran (Beth), her daughter, Sarah Martin (Scott), four grandsons, six great grandchildren, one brother and many nieces and nephews.
