James “Jim” Timothy Davis, 63, died unexpectedly on April 19, 2021 at Belton Regional Hospital. He was born on November 22, 1957 in Demopolis, AL., the son of Sidney Troy and Constance Davis. He was the seventh of nine siblings. Growing up in rural Alabama he and his family lived on a dairy farm. He had many stories of life on the farm and all of the odd jobs the family had. He attended Greensboro High School and then attended Troy State University for college. Jim then moved all over but ended up in Houston, Texas where he met the love of his life, Melinda. They were married April 23, 1983 and built an amazing life together. They raised two beautiful girls, Jackie born in 1985 and Julie born in 1989. They were the apples of his eye. His pride for his family was visible for anyone who knew him. Jim and Melinda settled down in Hearne, Texas to raise their family in the country. Jim was a selfless man who didn’t want much but wanted to serve his community in some way. He got involved in church where he and Melinda ran the youth group for a while. Jim wanted to give back more and served on the City Council for Hearne, Texas. He then ran for County Commissioner in Robertson County where he won and served the community for several terms. He operated all types of machinery in his tenure as a County Commissioner and found that he really loved driving the “big trucks.” After serving as a Commissioner he became an owner/operator for his own trucking company, Grapevine Transport. After a number of years running his own company, he decided he wanted a fresh start in Missouri. He moved here with his lovely bride and became employed as a driver with Swift Transportation. Aside from spending time with his family, he was an avid golfer. His love for golf was generational and he passed it down to his children and grandchildren. He was a champion nap taker, never missing a day and saying that it was very wise to take a solid nap as you get older. He also believed pie was a staple for all fine dining, and held the title of a pie connoisseur. His love for others and selfless heart was felt by all who knew him, and his light and friendly demeanor impacted those near and far. Jim’s granddaughters Ava, Olivia and Kylie were truly his heart. Of all the things he had done and accomplished, being a Granddaddy was his favorite role in life.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Michael Davis and John Davis. He is survived by his wife, Melinda Davis, two daughters Jacklyn Bush and Julie Davis, and three grandchildren Ava Bush, Olivia Bush and Kylie Little, as well as brothers Joe Davis, Bob Davis and sisters, Janet August, Marie Manley, Carolyn Corliss, and Betty Stokes. His brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Cynthia Thomas, along with the rest of his extended family.
