Thelma Jean VerBurg, aged 89, of Grand Rapids Michigan went into the loving presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Thelma is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald VerBurg, her two daughters Cheri (John) Bom and Joan (Roger) Elliott, nieces and nephews. She was a devoted wife and mother who was very involved with her family and various ministries within her church. She is joyfully reunited with her mother, Rose Lawrence; brothers Kenneth and Clifford Lawrence; and sister Donna VanWyk who have already gone into the presence of the Lord. Although her loved ones grieve deeply for their loss, they are comforted by the Lord’s promise that they will one day be reunited with her, never to be separated again. I Corinthians 2:9 tells us “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” The family’s deepest appreciation goes to the staff at Beacon Hill at Eastgate and Faith Hospice for their care and support during her illness. Please join Thelma’s family for the Memorial Service celebrating Thelma’s life at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 2pm, with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Please consider a memorial contribution in Thelma’s honor to either the Samaritan’s Purse or Faith Hospice.
