Robert Elliott Quick was born December 24, 1926 in Grand Rapids and died peacefully April 7, 2021 with his children by his side. He was proceeded in death by his wives, Rose Lee Quick and Genevieve Quick; parents, George and Mary Quick and brother, Donald Quick.
He is survived by his children Douglas (Deb) Quick, Robert (Kara) Quick, and Karen (Robert) McCambridge; his Grandchildren, Dan (Nicole) Quick, Jeremy (Janel) Quick, Heather (Mark) Ginevan, Robert (Alexis) Quick, Rachel Maxwell, Matthew Quick, Laura Maxwell, Laura (Cody) Ermler, Eric McCambridge, Anna McCambridge; his Great Grandchildren, Dylan, Brayden, Logan, Avery, Ella, Landon, Reese, Natalie, and Nora as well as many special nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as Uncle Bob.
Bob was a proud 1945 graduate of Creston High School and Aquinas College. Bob earned the highest achievement of an Eagle Scout. After high school he worked for the railroad for two years. He then started his 42 year career with Michigan Bell Telephone.
Bob was involved with the Telephone Pioneers along with being a lifetime 33 degree member of the Malta/Doric Masonic Lodge and also a Shriner of the Scottish Rite. He also spent several years volunteering with the Special Olympics.
Bob ran the Riverbank runs and other races with his highest goal of completing the Chicago Marathon. He also was an avid bike rider and swimmer.
After retirement, Bob and Gen travelled to Alaska, Hawaii, and the Panama Canal, took several mission trips and spent the winters in Florida.
Bob loved to fix things and was always working on a project. He always helped his children with countless hours of finishing basements, painting, wallpapering and lots of cement work.
Family meant everything to Bob. He loved all of his grandchildren and was a big part of their lives. Their friends even referred to him as Grandpa. He especially enjoyed Saturday night masses and dinner.
When Bob decided it was time to move to Assisted Living, he drove himself to Boulder Creek Assisted Living where he spent the last six years. He quickly became known as Mayor Bob and was loved by all the staff and special friend, Sherry.
The family would like to thank Andrea from Faith Hospice who helped Bob prepare and complete his journey. She was his angel on earth.
We will truly miss this wonderful man who always ended a conversation with “Love you the mostest”.
Visitation for Bob will be held on Sunday April 11, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday April 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church where the family will receive friends for an hour prior to mass.
