Nancy attended Creston High School and she especially enjoyed fishing and spending quality time at the family cottage on Big Brower Lake in Rockford. Growing up, Nancy attended Second Congregational Church where she sang in the choir and taught Bible classes.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University and went on to work at Blodgett Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids and at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit as a Cytologist. After moving to New York, Nancy continued her work at several hospitals.
After retirement, Nancy split her time between New York City and Italy with her companion, Enzo Ficile. Later in life, Nancy enjoyed traveling, gardening, music, cooking, entertaining, and nature. She cherished her family and will always be remembered as a kind and generous person.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Esther, her sister, Sally Peless, and her companion Enzo.
She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Jim and his wife, Deborah; one brother-in-law, John Peless; seven nieces and nephews, Kristen Morse, Susan (Scott) Hughes, Jeff (Adriene) Peless, Todd (Cathy) Peless, Lon (Jennifer) Peless, Jason (Robin) Peless, and Gretchen Peless; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and good friends Steve and Marilynn Johnson.
A private burial will take place at Fairplains Cemetery. Donations in Nancy’s memory can be made to the Arthritis Foundation Michigan (601 5th St NW #302, Grand Rapids, MI 49504).
