
Lila Mae Jensen, age 96, passed away at SKLD Beltline on March 25, 2025. Lila was born in Grand Rapids on December 11, 1928 to Lester & Elizabeth (Lilly) Kennedy. Her father owned an electronic repair shop on Plainfield, and the family lived above it.
After graduating from high school, she attended bible college where she met her first husband. In February of 1959, they adopted their daughter, Cynthia Mae, and not long after in December of the same year, their family was complete with the adoption of their son, Steven.
The couple settled their family in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles, California, and raised their children. Their home was near Pasadena, and Lila loved to attend the world-famous Rose Parade.
In 1977, Lila met Elwood Jensen who would become her second husband and the true love of her life. Elwood was a minister, and he was called to serve Foursquare Church in San Antonio, Texas. For over 28 years, Lila was proud to be a Pastor’s wife. She spent many years leading both the adult and youth choirs.
She was a talented musician. In addition to a beautiful singing voice, Lila played the piano. She had the gift of playing by ear and enjoyed listening to music and being able to instantly play the tune.
A woman of deep faith, Lila instilled her love for the Lord in her children. She led by example and filled her life loving and caring for others and sharing her faith. She will be remembered for her joy of life and memories filled with laughter.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband Elwood in 2009. She is survived by her children Cynthia Jensen and Steven (Angela) Laird.
Per her request, Lila has been cremated and there will not be any formal services.
