Helen Kathryn Hradsky Finger

Helen Kathryn (Hradsky) age 92 of Grand Rapids passed away Friday, Nov 19, 2010 at the home her husband, Paul J. Finger, had built for her. Helen left this world surrounded by her loving family and was escorted through the gates of heaven holding the hand of her husband who predeceased her on Sept. 16, 2006. She was born in Muskegon, MI on Oct. 10, 1918, one of 10 children to John and Kathryn Hradsky. She attended and graduated from Muskegon Hgts H.S. where she met and married Paul, the love of her life. Helen and Paul were married for 65 wonderful years. Together they founded Fingers Restaurant on Plainfield Ave in Grand Rapids in 1946 which was in operation for over 50 years. Helen loved the business and made lifelong friends of both employees and customers. She and Paul traveled extensively both in the US and abroad where they met friends that she stayed in contact with for the rest of her life. She had a list of hundreds of friends and relatives that she remembered with greeting cards and letters. She was an excellent cook and hostess and loved to entertain in her home. She crocheted inside when it rained and could often be found in her garden at other times. Helen is survived by her sons Ronald (Judi) Terry (Pamala); grandchildren, Kelly (Brian) McNeela, P.J. (Christy) Finger, Justin Finger, Paulina Finger, Matt (Marci) Ardinger and Amy (Rob) Dykstra; 5 great grandchildren, Rylee McNeela, Meagan and Sam Ardinger and Owen and Lauren Dykstra; brothers John, Fred and Dan Hradsky; sisters-in-law Peggy and Carol Hradsky and Bette Tancig; She will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers; Steve, Joe, Martin and George Hradsky; sisters, Ann Thurmond and Mildred Botbyl; brother-in-law Jack Finger. Memorial Services will be held Wed. Dec. 1, 2010 at 11 AM at Faith Lutheran Church on Fuller and 3 Mile Rd. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Salvation Army.
