Gordon Carl Yaeger, Age 69, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday April 4, 2019, from complications due to Alzheimer’s disease. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon A. Yaeger and Luci Alger; his daughter, Colleen Yaeger and his beloved sisters, Sandy Cole, Andrea Yaeger, and Barb Reed. He is survived by his loving wife, Tamsen Jane Yaeger; son, Jacob Yaeger and daughter-in-law, Chantericka Yaeger of Chicago. He is also survived by sisters, Kris VanderBoon, Sue Weemhoff, and Lynn Yaeger, and brother, John Yaeger, and the many loving and fun nieces and nephews who Gordie was proud to be their “Uncle Gordie”.
Gordon lived through a passion for teaching school aged kids, which he discovered after volunteering at his son’s school. Soon, he had vigorously succeeded in achieving a Master’s Degree in education, and touched the lives of many young people. They would often recall how he would cook for them in class. Throughout his life, Gordon was an avid musician and played the drums. He found joy in the outdoors, fishing and in particular, reading, having a positive impact in the lives of children, and being a wonderful father and husband.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Sunday, April 14, 2019 from Noon until 3 pm.
