George Schroeder, age76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 8 years Mary Schroeder; children Thomas (Rita Rusthoven) Schroeder, Jared (Judy) Schroeder, Mark (Carmen) Shipman, and Sara (Joe) Wekenman; grandchildren Logan Schroeder, Lydia Merriweather, and Rachel Merriweather; brother Gordy (Deloris) Schroeder; sister-in-law Dorie Schroeder; and Niece Charmi Schroeder. George proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After leaving the Army, he worked for a number of years for Teledyne and Grand Rapids Control. He was quite the outdoorsman; having a love for fishing and hunting. The family will be greeting friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 1-3 pm at Reyers North Valley Chapel; 2815 Fuller Ave. NE, Grand Rapids MI 49505. The service to celebrate George’s life will be held at 3PM on Wednesday, May8, 2013 at Reyers North Valley Chapel. Contributions in George’s memory may be made to Friends of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
