After high school, Ann decided to pursue a career in nursing. She attended Blodgett School of Nursing and finished her education earning her bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan. During her training, Ann formed lifelong friends with a group of her classmates.
As a natural caregiver, Ann took great joy in nursing and educating with her Spectrum Health career for over 40 years. This was by no means limited to her career, everyone who knew Ann has a story about her going above and beyond for them.
A woman of faith, Ann was a longtime attendant of Calvary Church. She was active with the choir, and enjoyed singing and music.
She was an extensive traveler and enjoyed scrapbooking. Ann was a big sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan. Ann loved the simple beauty of flowers and always enjoyed a fresh cut bouquet.
Most importantly, Ann will be remembered for her love of family. She was proud of her children, and was thrilled to become ‘Nana’ to her first grandchild early this year. Ann shared her enthusiasm for her family with everyone. She had a zest for life that will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ann is survived by her sons Steven (Callie) Kilpatrick and Brian (Anna Wagener) Kilpatrick; her granddaughter Hazel, her sister Joan Reed, her brothers John Portt and Richard (Lisa) Portt; and her niece and nephews: Julia & Jack Reed, Skye & Bryce Portt as well as many other relatives.
