William Isaac Walker (Bill), 85, beloved husband, father and PawPaw sadly left us on October 2, 2024. Bill was born December 17, 1938 in Washington, D.C. to Edgar Walker and Marian Dickins Walker Seeley. He was one of 8 children.
Bill left behind his wife of 63 years, Sandy, his daughters Natalie (Joe) Criswell and Paula (Joe) Emmons, his granddaughter Delaney Crisswell, and numerous other family members and friends.
At the age of 18, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army. While stationed on Guam, he met Sandy, the love of his life. They were married in 1961. In 1966, he was sent to Vietnam, where he served honorably. After 30 years of military service, he retired as a Sergeant Major. His highest military awards were two Meritorious Service Medals. Following his Army career, he worked security for the Dallas Morning News for many years.
Bill was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed baseball, especially watching the Texas Rangers, and anything John Wayne or Elvis Presley. He was a selfless person, always putting others before himself. His family always looked forward to holiday meals, because Bill was a wonderful cook and “master of the mashed potatoes“.
A Visitation for William will be held Monday, October 14, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.
