Ray is survived by his wife of just over 61 years, Dorothy, his daughter, Dawn Lowe, his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Shanna. He is also survived by his granddaughter Crystal and husband Mike Redd, 2 grandsons, Devin Spivey and wife Melissa, and Daniel Spivey. He has 5 great granddaughters-Lauren, Elina, Isabell, Illiana, and Natalie. He has 2 great grandsons, Clayton and David.
He is survived by 7 siblings, brother Bobby Spivey of Grand Prairie, 6 sisters, Alice and husband Felix Mudd of Port Lavaca, Linda and husband Kenneth Jackson of Longview, Patty and husband Jack Bement of Grand Prairie, Jean and husband Paul Duncan of Aurora, Mo., Jackie and husband Randy Wells of Waxahachie and Teresa and husband Ken Fry of Irving. He is also survived by 4 sisters-in-law – Jane Spivey, Judy Spivey Ramona Smith and Darlene Bullard. He is survived by a host of nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Minnie Spivey, 1 sister, Katherine Wilson, 4 brothers, Roy, Wayne, Jerry and Dean Spivey and sister-in-law June Spivey. He was also preceded in death by his beloved in-laws, Lewis and Esther Bullard, brother-in-law Lewis Bullard and wife Wanda and brother-in-law Mearle Bullard.
Ray had a lot of years in his life, 83, but more important than that, he had a lot of Life in his years.
At the age of 18, he joined the Marines and served his country in the Korean War. He became an ordained minister in 1960 after graduating from Arlington Baptist College. He was an active member of the Sam R. Hamilton Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star Chapter 219 of Grand Prairie.
