Tomas Picon Ruiz

Tomas grew up in Seguin, TX where he graduated from Geronimo High School. During school he was active in baseball, track and basketball. Upon graduation he enlisted in the US Army. During his service with the Army he lost his hearing and transferred to the US Air Force Reserve where he served 25 years making it to rank of Master Sergeant (MSGT) and earning several medals, ribbons and other commendations.

He received his MBA at Southwestern Texas State currently Texas State in San Marcos. Tomas was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was currently attending St. Michael the Archangel with his children. He loved to watch baseball and even coached his kids and grandson in baseball.

Tomas was a father, grandfather, husband and friend. He had a forgiving heart, was full of love and would bend over backwards for anyone, literally removing the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was a fighter who loved going to movies spending time with him family and reading his Bible. A gentle soul he kept to himself and lived his life being a faithful example his family could be proud of.

Tomas is preceded in death by his son Marcos Dominguez Ruiz; brothers Epiminio and San Juan Ruiz.

He is survived by sons: Thomas Ruiz, Andres Ruiz and his wife, Guadalupe; grandchildren: Marcus Ruiz, Andrew Ruiz and his wife, Heaven, Alexis Ruiz; great-grandchildren: Sophia Grace Ruiz, Kayden Isaiah Ruiz, Alanii Faith Ruiz; brothers: Miguel Ruiz and his wife, Linda, Ramon Ruiz and his wife, Gina; former spouse RosaLinda D. Ruiz.

Visitation for Tomas will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.

Rosary service will occur Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 7:00 PM, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.

Funeral Mass will occur Friday, September 17, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 2910 Corn Valley Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052 followed by a graveside service at Southland Memorial Park, 1100 SW 3rd St., Grand Prairie, TX 75051.
