A fifth generation native of Grand Prairie, Texas, she was born there on April 5, 1943 to John Wilburn Daugherty and Ernesteen Heard Daugherty. She attended schools in the Grand Prairie ISD and graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1961 where she was an Honor Graduate, a member of the National Honor Society and a Gopher Cheerleader. Pat was also an Honor Graduate of what is now known as the University of North Texas (formerly NTSU). She was a professional educator who taught history and physical education in the Grand Prairie ISD, Dallas ISD, and Garden Grove High School in Orange County, California.
On April 11, 1968 Pat married Lee West Thompson III and the couple moved to Long Beach, California. They were married 47 years. Lee and Pat enjoyed their favorite pastime of sail boating on the Pacific Ocean and Puget Sound. They sailed their boat frequently to the San Juan Islands and along the coast of Canada to Alaska. In the 1970’s Pat and Lee moved from Long Beach back to Dallas where they established Thompson Printing Company in Downtown Dallas. They sold their printing business and retired in 1986. In retirement, Pat and Lee lived in Grand Prairie, Texas; Long Beach, California; Kingston, Washington and Sarasota, Florida.
Pat is preceded in death by her brother-in-law E. Carlyle Smith Jr., and survived by her sister, Ouida Daugherty Smith; step-son Thomas Thompson and wife Denise of Paulsbo; twin grandsons Levi and Caleb; grandson Nathan of Paulsbo, Washington; and cousins Lynn Motley and wife Tonnie, Dr. Ken Smith and wife Shari, Marcy Beach and husband Gary, Jeff Gentry Jr. and David Davie.
Services celebrating the lives of Patricia and Lee Thompson will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 727 Hill Street, Grand Prairie, Texas 75050. There will be a reception in the parish hall following the service. Burial will be private.

Lee West Thompson III died in Dallas on June 3, 2015, of renal failure. He had courageously endured dialysis for over twelve years.
Lee was born in San Francisco, California on November 6, 1936 to Lee W. Thompson Jr. and Violet Griswold. The family moved to Long Beach, California where Lee attended public school and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. After attending the University of Colorado, Lee returned to Long Beach to enter the family business, Invacare Medical Supplies, founded by his grandfather. He met his future wife, Patricia Daugherty, when he came to Dallas to open up the territory to sell Invacare products. They were married 47 years. Lee was an expert sailor who loved sailing boats large and small. He at one time was National Sailing Champion. Sailing became their favorite pastime.
Following the sale of Invacare to Johnson and Johnson in the 1970’s, Lee and Pat moved from Long Beach to Dallas where they established Thompson Printing Company in the Trammel Crow Building, Downtown, Dallas. They sold their printing business and retired in 1986. In retirement, Lee and Pat lived in Grand Prairie, Texas; Long Beach, California; Kingston, Washington and Sarasota, Florida.
Lee was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Thompson; two sons from previous marriage, Thomas Thompson and wife Denise of Paulsbo, Washington and Christian Thompson and wife Lucie Isabelle of Paris, France; twin grandsons Caleb and Levi and grandson Nathan of Paulsbo, Washington; sister-in-law Ouida Daugherty Smith of Dallas.
