She was born in Roswell to Russ and Cleta Russell. She received her degree as a Registered Nurse and worked in Roswell for many years. She loved what she did and most everyone she met in her professional encounters. Those of which receive care from her, always commented on what an amazing warm person and nurse she was.
In 2003, Marilyn moved to Fort Worth, Texas to be with her grandchildren and further her career in nursing. In 2008 her life changed after meeting her amazing husband, Frank Hulsey. This union opened a world of adventure as she was free to pursue a more creative side that she craved and longed to express. She loved the "love of the hunt". Always keeping an eye for unusual or forgotten keepsakes and imagined the hands who treasured those orphaned momentos. She loved and cherished the things she gathered with a purpose, to be crafted once again into beloved treasures. Having so little as a child and young adult, she learned the art of being frugal and making little go even further. That love for the hunt and those habits of making less into more never faded. Garage sales, estate sales, antique stores or anywhere that had a bargain was certain to hold buried treasure. She was as diligent as an archaeologist in uncovering those items that others glossed over.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Russ Russell (1998) and Cleta Russell (2018). She is survived by her husband of 16 years Frank; brothers Steve Russell (Emma) and David Russell; daughters, Cissy (David Chavez) and Tosha (Troy Jones); granddaughters Gabriela (Aaron Hernandez) and Izabela; nephew Nick Russell (Deanne). She was overly excited for the birth of her first great-grandson, Mateo Hernandez. Mateo will always have a Guardian Angel by his side.
Frank gave her a wonderful life in Texas. She could not have had a better man by her side, and we are so grateful that God Blessed her with our “Papa Frank.” We will miss her quick wit, hilarious sarcasm, generosity, and great advice. Most of all, the bountiful love she had for her family. Not only was she so much fun, but she really did light up a room! We will love and miss her for a long time, but her sparkles will remain with us for generations.
Out of respect for her wishes, there will not be a service
