Lydia Torres, age 81, passed away on April 4, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. For many years before her passing she was a resident of Arlington, Texas. Lydia was born on October 18, 1941, in Robstown, Texas to Secudino and Aurelia Torres. During her life she lived in Texas, California and Washington.
She married Emilio Olivarez in the late 1950’s, and they had four children together. Emilio and Lydia parted ways in 1994 but were still seen together off and on throughout the years until Emilio passed on to the next life on September 14, 2007.
Two jobs that Lydia had and worked at for many years were with Lamb Weston when she lived in Quincy, Washington, and with American Airlines when she lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
Her family and friends will always remember her for her love of Godzilla movies, casinos and her recognizable responses of “Huh?” or “¿Que?” when she was asked a question. She was an avid lover of sweets and a champion napper.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, Emilio Olivarez, and her siblings Adela Zapata, Susanna Correl and Juan Torres.
She is survived by her four children, Robert Olivarez and his wife, Kaylee Olivarez, Gilbert Olivarez and his wife, Sonia Olivarez, Nickie Patterson and her husband, Ray Patterson and Elizabeth Bartlett. Lydia is survived by her siblings Cris Sandoval, Secundino Torres, Aurelia Torres, Jesus Torres and Francisco Torres. Lydia is survived by her grandchildren JR Olivarez, Veronica Olivarez, Leti Delgado, Saul Olivarez, Erica Villalobos, Enrique Olivarez, Christine Martinez, Zach Traynor, Ford Bartlett, Ranger Bartlett and Sahara Bartlett. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and individuals who she considered family regardless of former or current relation, Gloria Garcia, Yolanda Medina and many others.
