Larry Bennett Frazier was born February 11th, 1941, to Audrey Leroy and Aurora Maurine (Bennett) Frazier in Abilene, Texas. He spent his childhood in Abilene, graduating from Abilene High School in 1959. Larry attended and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts Education from Abilene Christian College.
Larry began his 25-year career at National Cash Register (NCR) as a cash register salesman and worked his way up to a Systems Engineer. Upon early retirement he worked as a computer consultant for several customers, maintaining his Frazier Consulting business. His talent in public relations, keen sense of the computer business, and exceptional customer service led his consulting career to admirable results.
Lion Larry Frazier was an Icon Lion and believed deeply in the mission and community service of the Lions Club. He was well known throughout Lion’s International as a stalwart and knowledgeable key Lion. He Joined the Lions Club in Abilene in November of 1963. Upon moving to the DFW area, he joined the Oak Cliff Lions Club in 1969 where he was Lion of the Year twice and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship award. He was a 100% Lion for almost 51 years and served as Lion Tamer in 2022. He was the Club Newsletter editor for many years and Club Photographer or assistant for most of the decades that he was a member.
He served in multiple positions on the Lions Executive Council (2002-2006). He served on the Julian C Hyer Youth Camp Board (2008-2011). He served on the Lions Sight & Tissue Foundation as the Treasurer and spent many years working their booth at the State Fair of Texas.
He was a strong Christian and member of Crosspoint Church of Christ (formerly Turnpike Church of Christ). He served as a deacon and ministry leader in bus, fellowship, and communion ministries.
Larry’s primary loves were his family, traveling, and photography. He purchased several time shares so he could travel with his family and friends. Spring Break and Summer Vacation with family made him very happy. He especially enjoyed it when there were plenty of people to play domino games (the game of 84 was his favorite). He was still beating all of us at dominoes regularly. Times spent in Lake Tahoe, Bandera, Daytona Beach, and Hot Springs with family are precious memories.
Larry’s love of photography led him to create a legacy of beautiful photo albums for the family and the Lions Club.
