Kim grew up in the Garland/Rockwall area. She graduated from Terrell Christian Academy in 1989. After high school she worked at Brookshire and Albertson's and In 1993 she met Jayson Philips while out dancing. They were married September 12, 1993. Kim loved making jewelry, gardening despite her lack of a green thumb and gaming on World of Warcraft. In 1994 they moved to N. Carolina where Jayson was stationed and they had their daughter, Shelby. Kim was a happy military wife and in 1995 they moved to Texas where Jayson was stationed at Fort Hood. A year later they had their first son Austin.
In 1997 they moved to Fort Campbell, Kentucky till 2001 when they moved permanently back to Texas. In 2003 Kim lived with her parents in Winnsboro while her husband was in Iraq. The next year their second son, Ryan, was born. Kim liked to watch singing shows such as American Idol and X-Factor. She was an outgoing, loving woman who never met a stranger. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan Kim loved her 4 dogs: Hope, Chewbacca, Bentley and Tux. She was strong and lead by her emotions who attended Paramount Baptist Church with her friend and was a Breast Cancer Fighter. This December marked four years clean of Breast Cancer.
Kim is preceded in death by her daughter Shelby B Philips and father-in-law Billy Phillips.
She is survived by her husband Jayson Phillips; parents Sam and Donna Story; children Austin and Ryan Phillips; sister Sandy McCormick and husband Billy Bumpus; brother-In-laws: Ricky Phillips and wife, Jan, David Phillips; sister-in-laws: Terri Griffith and husband, Jeff, Kelli Garber and husband, Larry, Vicki Carder and husband Darrell; mother-in-law Gracie Phillips and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for people to make donations to the Breast Cancer Foundation in Kim's name.
