Kaye Russell, 77, of Grand Prairie, Texas, died Tuesday, March 10, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis for 27 years. She was born on March 15, 1942 in Overton, Texas to Alexander Duke and Evelyn Hooper. She married Ronald "Ronnie" Russell on August 21, 1965 who preceded her in death, December 2000.
Surviving family includes, daughter, Amy Russell Nelson and husband, George Nelson III of Grand Prairie, Texas; daughter Lori Russell Coakley and husband John Coakley, Grandson Grant Coakley and Granddaughter Erica Coakley of Arlington, Texas; brother Joseph "Buzz" Hooper and spouse, Pat Hooper of Fort Worth, Texas
Kaye graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1960 and attended Texas Tech University, Graduating with an English degree in 1964. While living in Grand Prairie, Texas, Kaye worked as a Secretary in the Banking Industry in Dallas and Grand Prairie for many years. After moving to Meridian, Texas, she worked as a Church Secretary for the United Methodist Church in Meridian. Kaye obtained a teaching degree and worked for Meridian ISD for many years starting as a Kindergarten Teacher and working through to High School English and one of the first Teachers to begin education in Computer Science.
Kaye loved spending time with family and friends, she enjoyed cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, cross stich and playing board and card games. Kaye enjoyed beach vacations but did not enjoy the sunburns she always received. She was a generous, patient, thoughtful person who could give the best advice and knew when you needed her to just sit and listen. Throughout her years of working, being a wife and Mother, those close to Kaye knew her kindness and positive attitude was always given freely and genuinely.
The visitation for is from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Belt Line Rd., Grand Prairie, Texas 75052.
