Jerry Lynn Toomer, age 71, was born on Tuesday, December 20, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, and passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in Arlington, Texas. Mr. Toomer was born, raised and retired in Grand Prairie, Texas. He graduated as a GPHS Gopher in 1969 and spent his working years as an electrician and building maintenance manager, with his last 25 years at Control Products Corporation in Grand Prairie. Jerry married Linda Susan Clark in 1974 in Dallas, TX, and the couple were members of First United Methodist Church Grand Prairie.
Jerry was a man with an unwavering memory for people and places, and you could say he never met a stranger. Naturally outgoing and gregarious, he could strike up a conversation with any type of person in any type of situation. Friends and family often relied on Jerry’s expertise for all matters related to home maintenance, making him the venerable “Mr. Fix-It,” often paid in 6-packs of Corona beer. He worked hard and often could be found on the golf course, water and snow skiing, or cutting a rug on the dance floor. Jerry was taken from us suddenly by leukemia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.L. and Billie Mack Toomer, and infant son, Jonathan Lee Toomer. He is survived by his wife, Linda Susan Toomer; daughter, Angela (Benjamin) Hall; grandson, Clark Hall; sisters, JoNell (Marty) Bruenig and Susie (Larry) Carter; and 8 nieces and nephews.
