Ed was born Jan. 27, 1913, in Mexia to Kathryn and Hardy Jones. The family moved to Oak Cliff when he was young child and he and his brother, Casey, graduated from Sunset High School in 1931. Ed married Helen Brown on Nov. 18, 1936, and they were together until her death in August 1996. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. A portion of his service was aboard the submarine USS Plunger. At his death, he was the oldest surviving submariner in the country. He kept in touch with his fellow submariners throughout his life. Ed worked for the Dallas Tax Office and the Grand Prairie Tax and Urban Renewal offices. He will be remembered for his generosity and that he always had a joke to tell.
