Dean was born in Hamilton, Alabama to her parents, Robert Franklin Palmer and Lula McCurley Palmer. She was the youngest of 7 siblings and raised on a farm in rural NW Alabama. She accepted Christ as her savior at the age of 12, when she was in 6th grade and was baptized in a creek by Shiloh Baptist Church near Hamilton, Alabama. After graduating High School, Dean attended college at Florence State Teachers College and later graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX with a Bachelor of Religious Education in 1950. Following graduation she relocated to Colorado City, TX where she was employed as the church secretary at First Baptist Church, Colorado City. While serving there, she met her husband, Brooks Teague, who was the interim Minister of Music and was also a High School math teacher. Following their marriage on August 20, 1952, Dean taught elementary school and Brooks was the elementary school principal. Brooks and Dean have been married 67 years. While in Colorado City, their children, Andy and Susan were born. In 1968, the Teagues moved to Irving, TX where Dean taught 3rd grade and Brooks was an elementary school principal. In 1989, they both retired and moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In 1998, they moved to Grand Prairie, TX and both were active at First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie.
A few years ago, Dean was diagnosed with vascular dementia and she and Brooks moved to Colip House Assisted Living Home where she received loving care from the staff of Colip House and Heart to Heart Hospice.
Dean Teague is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lula Palmer and by her siblings, Lee Roy, Edna, Emma, Hobson, Ora and Marvin.
She is survived by her husband, Brooks; her children, Andy and Susan; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and by other family members and friends.
