High Ridge, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on April
5, 2019. Born April 23, 1947, in Ironton, Missouri, she is preceded in
death by her parents, Alvin and Elaine (Cook) Edwards of St. Ann,
Missouri, her sister Jane Marie (Edwards) Lewis, and brother John Alvin
Edwards.
Connee was so full of life and had a smile and a personality that could
light up any room. She did not know a stranger and she thoroughly enjoyed
meeting new people and making new friends. She was like a magnet and
people were drawn to her; especially children. Connee had a knack for
calming a fussy baby and making them laugh or smile; she truly had a heart
for children. She could spend countless hours playing with her
grandchildren, and would play anything that they wanted to play. She
happily gave them her undivided attention. She was even quoted as saying
that she is their favorite toy.
She loved the beach and enjoyed traveling to St. Thomas with her husband,
Marty. The two also loved visiting New Orleans, which quickly became one of
Connee’s favorite places to be. She appreciated the history, the food and
architecture.
Survivors include her loving husband and caregiver, John Martin “Marty”
Porter of Texas, her three children, Richard “Rich” (Rhonda) Hilton of
Missouri, and Angela (Daniel) Brooks of Texas and John-Michael Edwards
(Fiancée Crystal) of Texas. Grandchildren, Tiffinie (Ken) Berend, Tony
Hilton, Chris Brooks, Brandon (Cynthia) Brooks, Taylor Brooks, Jacob
Edwards and Mackenzie Edwards. Plus 2 great grandchildren Joey and Tyler
Berend. Her sisters and brothers: Becky (Tony) Cafazza, Kathy (Rob)
Dunlap, Tony (Peggy) Edwards, Mike (Kelley) Edwards, her beloved Aunt and
Uncle, Charmaine and Floyd McFarland her best friend Barbara (Mike) Rhodes
