A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, at the Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie.
Charles was born on November 17, 1948 in Pontiac, Michigan. He somehow managed to cram a dozen lifetimes into his near seven decades on Earth. Whether it was his 20-plus years in the U.S. Army, his exploits with the F.B.I., his later life as an entrepreneur in financial services, or his work as a philanthropist, his life was defined by his service to his country and community.
Charles was a passionate golfer who spent many years perfecting his craft, though also spending more dollars on his golf game than he'd care to admit.
Despite his many adventures around the world, his heart always yearned for a true home, which he found in Texas. He was a proud member of his Colleyville neighborhood, serving as President of his local homeowners' association and as a member of the local Rotary club.
But above all else, Charles was a family man who never met a stranger. He reserved a special love in his heart for his wife of 45 years, Kim, and his son, David.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Tommie Lester Moss and Marion Moss; sister Sandra Dawson; brother Frank Whitlock, and brother Alexander Whitlock.
His survivors include his wife Kim Moss; son David Moss and wife Sarah Novak; grandson Ezekiel Moss; sister Deborah Holmes and husband Roy Holmes; sister Marilyn Liddell, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by his faithful, four-legged partner in crime, Sammy.
