Charles Joseph Kurp, born March 18, 1926 and passed away December 15, 2014. Charles, 88, departed this life Monday, December 15th. He was born in Pennsylvania and graduated from East Pittsburg High School in 1943 and then joined the U.S. Air Force where he trained fighter pilots. He met his future wife Nancy at Flamingo Roller Rink in East Liberty, Pennsylvania. They married in 1951, celebrating 63 years of marriage. Charles transferred to Grand Prairie training pilots at Hensley Air Force Base. They opened K.C. State Company in their garage, then later moving to a larger facility. Years later they sold and opened their first roller rink, Mid-Cities Skateland in Irving, building numerous rinks in Texas. He also coached several kids in speed skating. He traveled all over working on wood skating floors and put the regional and national skating floor down for years. He was very passionate about roller skating sports and very generous of his time and help with anyone he met. Survived by: wife, Nancy Kurp; daughters, Karen and Debbie and their husbands, Gil and Bill; grandkids, Brian, Bradley, Nandita and Chad; great grandkids, Addison, Olivia, Mycah, Reagan and Eila. Visitation: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home; Service: 8:45 am, Friday, December 19, 2014 at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home Chapel. Committal Service: 10:15 am, Friday, December 19, 2014 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
