He was born Nov. 1, 1937, in Grand Prairie to W.A. Armstrong and Elizabeth Bostick Armstrong. Billy Joe graduated from Grand Prairie High School and attended Arlington State College, now UT-Arlington. He was proud of being a lifelong resident of Grand Prairie and had a wealth of information about its history. Billy Joe served many years in the Texas Air National Guard. Known as the "best car salesman in town," he worked for Graff Chevrolet for over 40 years where his slogan of "Good People Doing Great Business in Grand Prairie" helped sell many Chevrolets. No one could have had a more loyal friend or loving, kind relative.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Bostick Armstrong and W.A. Armstrong.
Survivors: His wife of 52 years and high school sweetheart, Judy Erspamer Armstrong; sister, Dorothy Pappas (Sam); sisters-in-law, Jane Pope, Sandy Wimberly (Ray) and Laurie Chessmore (Mike); brother-in-law, Steve Erspamer; and many nieces and nephews.
