Velma was born on May 26, 1941 in Collbran, Colorado to Woodrow and Laura Saunders (Potter). She spent her childhood in Mesa, Colorado and graduated from Central High School. Velma went on to graduate with a degree in Business from the Central Business College in Denver. On June 9, 1960, she married Clifford Moore in Clifton, Colorado. Velma was a school library secretary at Bookcliff Middle School. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and an Eastern Star. She was also recognized as a Blue Star Mother and a Blue Star Grandmother. Velma was also a very talented craftswoman.
Velma is survived by her husband, Clifford Moore of Grand Junction; her son, Mike Moore of Wetumpka, Alabama; her daughter, Paula Campbell of Rifle; two brothers, Joe Saunders of Montrose and Ted Saunders of Clifton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both her mother and her father and her brother, Ben Saunders.
A visitation will be held for Velma on Wednesday, February 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Martin Mortuary. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 23 at 1:30 pm at Martin Mortuary, with a graveside service to follow at Memorial Gardens in Grand Junction.
