Mary Ann Fisher age 91, was born in Trinidad, Colorado on June 27, 1930. She was the youngest of 2 daughters of Sam and Mary Scariano. Mary Ann was a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to many. As with most grandparents, being a grandma/great grandma was her most cherished role.
She was a nurse and then a stay-at-home mom. When the last of her 4 kids entered school, she returned to the workforce as a secretary/nurse at what was then St. Joseph’s Catholic School until her retirement. She was an avid Broncos and Rockies fan.
In her later years, macular degeneration took her sight but not her ability to listen to the games either on tv or on her transistor radio. We were constantly keeping her supplied in AA batteries. She was always worried about everyone around her despite her own struggles. Those who knew her were changed for the better. She didn’t know a stranger and would help anyone in any way she could. She had many health issues to contend with but always rose above it with true grit and determination.
The love of her life, Gene Fisher, passed away in 1992. She is survived by her 4 kids Steve Fisher (Wendy), Debbie Fisher, Mike Fisher (Michelle) and Kathy Forner (Rick), 6 grand kids, Kelsey Stevens (Patrick), Luke Fisher, Jake Fisher (Carissa), Jenna Correll (Will), Tony Forner, Sam Forner and 2 great grandkids, little Will Correll and Jeanie Fisher. In addition, her long-time care giver, JJ Brown was instrumental in her care. We would also like to thank Mesa Manor Nursing Home for the compassionate care she received in her final days. She can now rest easy knowing her life on earth was filled with much love and laughter. She will be missed. In her own words “This is the Pits!” In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hope West of the Grand Valley.
