Marilyn Jenelle Crenshaw Lane, born February 29, 1940 in Alva, Oklahoma, went to sleep on October 2nd, 2023, and now is at rest, waiting for her Lord's return to wake her to the new, and perfect world He is preparing for His own.
Marilyn, about twelve years old, with her family, moved from Alva to the Grand Valley in 1953 where she attended school, graduating from Central High School in 1958. She went on to attend nursing school in Florida, one of those amazingly strong women we admire with wonder, becoming a registered nurse while married, and raising three children, Vincent Tyler (Susan), Daelyn Tyler Dillahunty (Dale), and Mathew Tyler (Karen), Marilyn returned to the Grand Valley in 1978 as a single mother of three teenaged children where she supported her family, working in the Emergency Department of St. Mary's Hospital. There she served as a flight nurse, and Assistant Supervisor of the department, while also serving as an assistant coroner for Mesa County. Following an unexpected reunion with her childhood sweetheart in 1987, her children now grown, she moved to Denver where she and Rusty began a union that lasted thirty-five years until the ravages of Parkinson's Disease finally intervened.
Preceding her in death are: her parents, Marion and Theda Bloominger Crenshaw, brother Dennis Crenshaw, great-grandson, Roc Matlee Tyler, and her beloved niece, Monica Mays Crites. She leaves behind: her husband, Rusty (Rustin) Lane, sister, Trula Crenshaw Mays, her three children, their spouses, her seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Also left, are stepsons, Kenneth Lane (Kolleen), and Kris Lane (Pamela), and three step grand-daughters. Marilyn also leaves behind her cherished childhood friend, and working colleague, Fern Dubose, as well as loved nieces and nephews.
Of course, this dry, and narrow recitation of facts utterly fails to reveal the beautiful essence, strength and complexity that was our beloved Marilyn. Those of you who knew her, and loved her, know this all too well. She loved deeply. Her beautiful smile could light up any room. Now, we are left with a vast empty space in our hearts that can only be filled when we are reunited with her at His return, and we miss you so very much Sweetheart.
