It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, daughter and friend, Kathy Lynn Cook. After a four year long battle with pancreatic cancer, Kathy passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by family on August 28, 2023. Kathy was a fighter through such a difficult battle and never once let anyone see her struggle. She smiled through her toughest days and persevered not for herself but for those she loved.
Kathy was born in Arvada Colorado at Lutheran hospital to parents Francis Hugh Cook Jr. and Donna June Taylor on October 13, 1962. She attended Arvada West High School and went on to have a successful career as a Chemical Operator at Rocky Flats for 15 years. Following her move to Rifle Colorado in 1995, she went on to obtain her cosmetology license from Glenwood Springs Beauty Academy and taught beauty school for over 10 years. She then became a business owner of a successful fencing company while also doing cosmetology for friends and family, as well as massage therapy. She was a woman who held many titles but her biggest accomplishment in life was being a mother to her two children; Clayton Taylor Cahill and Danielle Naree Cahill. She enjoyed being involved in her children’s educational lives and sports activities. The things that brought Kathy the most joy in life include; laughing with her friends, traveling, spending time at the beach, attending classic rock concerts, watching the Denver Broncos, and going on walks with her beloved dog Zoey.
Kathy was a fiercely dedicated mother. A supportive and loving daughter. A loyal and caring sister. And a trustworthy friend. Many would describe Kathy as genuine, strong, loyal, and giving with a tough exterior but a gentle soul and a heart of gold.
Kathy is survived by her mother Donna, her brother David, her sister Kelly, and her two children; Danielle and Clayton. She is predeceased by her father Hugh.
Kathy requested a celebration of life be held in her honor. We request all of Kathy’s loved ones to join us on September 16th, 2023 at 1:00pm. Services will be held at Callahan Edfast Memorial located at 2515 Patterson Road in Grand Junction Colorado.
Kathy will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved by her friends and family for eternity. May she rest in peace.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.callahan-edfast.com for the Cook family.
