Justin Wayne Tate

Justin was born on October 7, 1952, as the youngest son of Jake and Edna Tate in Denver, Colorado. Justin, his sister Janice, and brother Greg moved around the west throughout their childhood, living in Arizona and Wyoming until finally settling down in the Grand Valley. Justin graduated from Grand Junction Central High School in 1971. He loved football and was the starting center on the Central Warriors team. He and the former Pamela Coane married on August 1,1970 in Grand Junction.

“Papa” loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially during the holidays. Camping in the San Juan Mountains with his family and friends was the highlight of every summer and fall. Justin loved elk hunting, fishing, and riding his ATVs over Imogene Pass between Telluride and Ouray.

For over 50 years, Justin was “Union Proud” as a Journeyman Lineman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 111. He took enormous pride in his role as one of our critical lineman, as he was called out many nights and on many holidays to take care of the folks in the Grand Valley.

He leaves behind his sons Justin Tate of Grand Junction, Shaun Tate of Parker Colorado, and Ryan Tate of Thornton, Colorado, as well as his four grandchildren Jace, Bailey, Trevor, and Dawson. Justin and Pam remained friends until the very end.

A remembrance service will be held at a later date this year. In lieu of flowers, Justin would appreciate a gift to Alcoholics Anonymous.
