June Marie Miller

June Marie Miller, age 91, of Grand Junction, CO peacefully passed away December 24, 2021 after a long battle with dementia. She was born on June 20, 1930, in Bowie, CO to Louis and Frances Kochevar. She married her soul mate and the love of her life Warren G. Miller on June 15, 1950. June was a homemaker and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She was an active member of Catholic Daughters for most of her life. Family was the most important thing to June. She loved going to parades and band festivals when her children were in the school bands and loved going to them and reminisce after they had long graduated. She didn’t miss many baseball games when her grandsons were playing nor their softball games after they grew into men and just did it for fun. She was always her family’s biggest fan. June loved to cook big family meals and bake. She always said she “took out her frustrations on the dough” while punching it down and kneading it. She never made her famous cinnamon rolls or potica for her family without making extra for friends and neighbors. In the fall, when her children were all still at home, the whole family processed wild game for Orchard Mesa Market. June was the fastest meat wrapper around and passed that talent to her daughter. She loved weekend picnics or visits to see family in Paonia, CO and loved it just as much when family and friends came to visit. Her door was always open. She made sure to pass on the importance of the love of family to all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always had a smile, hello and a big hug for everyone she met.

She is survived by her sons Warren “Jim” Miller (Linda), Douglas Miller (Susan), Phillip Miller (Garnet), daughter Teresa Whidden (Frank), daughter-in-law Mary Jo Miller (Dwayne), 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren Miller and son Andrew “Dwayne” Miller; brother and sister.
