He was born July 3, 1948 in Denver, Colorado the son of Duane and Margaret (Whitefield) Johnson. He spent his childhood in Denver, and moved to Aspen, Co. when he was twelve and graduated from Aspen High School in 1968. Eric then served in the United States Army spending time in Belgium during the Vietnam War. After his service in the Army he spent time in Aspen and traveling. He moved to Grand Junction, Co. in 1980 and worked for City Market for over 20 years.
Eric was a member of the Jubilee Family Church, Outing Club and the Barbershop singing group. He enjoyed skiing, hiking, biking, traveling, building and gardening. Eric loved animals and owned many dogs and chickens and built them a special chicken coop from 100 year old wood from the Grand Mesa.
Survivors include a sister Tina Morrow of Coos Bay, Oregon; a nephew Whit Morrow of Coos Bay, Oregon and a niece Carrie Carroll of Pomerene, Arizona.
Committal service will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 10 AM.
