Douglas Albert Gale, age 86, passed away peacefully Saturday July 2, 2022 in Grand Junction, CO at the HopeWest Hospice Care Center. He is now in the arms of his lovely bride, where he longed to be since her passing.
Doug was born March 29, 1936 on the family farm in Beaver, Utah to James Albert Gale and Martha Alice Talbot Gale. He was the third of nine children. He spent all of his growing up years, working hard on the farm and was also very active in school programs, including singing, acting in school plays, playing in the band and 4-H. In High School he and 2 of his buddies created a band and they played at several different get-togethers including the community center.
On January 26, 1955 he married his high school sweetheart in Beaver, UT. They were then sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 7, 1956. They lived in several western states throughout their married life including NV, several cities in UT, NM, CA, & several cities in CO.
Doug was an active member of the LDS Church. He held many positions throughout his years and very much enjoyed his church callings and all the members of his wards.
He enjoyed several things throughout his life including hunting with his large family, word search books, reading, and watching the Utah Jazz, the Denver Broncos and Golf with Tiger Woods. The most important for him was fixing and repairing anything that needed it especially when he remodeled the home in Parowan, UT for them to live in.
Doug is survived by 5 children, Debra Johnson (Joe) of Gold Hill, Oregon; Tammy Wheeler (Ed Price) of Grand Junction, Colorado; James Gale of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Bonnie Huisjen (Tom) and Sherri Rosen-Wolfe (Micah) of Grand Junction, Colorado; 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. He is also survived by his brothers David Gale and Hal Gale both of Cedar City, Utah; Steven Gale (Kathy) of Beaver, Utah; sister Annette (Jerry) of Washington, Utah; Sister-in-laws, Gayle Gale of Milford, Utah; Karen Gale of Beaver, Utah and Vicki Gale of Elsinore, Utah, also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife Frances, his oldest daughter Christine, his parents, brothers Ronald, Arnell, Paul and Lyle and his sister-in-law’s, Madalyn and Connie.
Services will be held Monday, July 11, 2022 @ 2:00pm with a viewing from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Both will be held at Southern Utah Mortuary in Beaver, Utah (195 N 200 W). Interment will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver, Utah (400 N 500 E).
