David was a prominent businessman in Western Colorado. He started Dodd Diesel Inc. in 1978 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, servicing the coal mining industry with support for Detroit Diesel Engines and Allison Transmissions. The business grew into sales and service of forestry equipment, winning awards for outstanding achievements over the years. In 1987, Dodd Diesel moved to Grand Junction as forestry equipment sales continued to grow. They expanded to Arizona in 1989. Currently Dodd Diesel Inc. is doing business as DDI Equipment, operating in Whitewater, Colorado and Phoenix, Arizona. In 2001, David's love for the forests and forest health led him to start another business, Enviro Land Management, which utilizes equipment to perform fire mitigation as well as fire remediation.
David was not only an outstanding businessman, he was an amazing father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, sharing his love of the great outdoors hunting, fishing, golfing, motorcycling, and horseback riding. He also loved Lake Powell and spent time with his family there every year for over 50 years. In 1991, he purchased his dream mountain property in Pitkin County, which included a cabin and a lake, for the family to enjoy.
David is survived by his wife, Myrna; his son, Darren; daughter, Rachel, and her husband, Lance; his grandchildren, Denver, Dehlia, Desiree, Shiloh, Tyler, Trevor, Taylor, Tarynn, and Tatum; and great-grandchildren, Dustin, Delany, Pearl, Rubydee, Opal'Lea, Jackson, and Charly.
