Alice Merle Morton

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Alice M Morton, passed away on Sunday April 3rd, 2022 surrounded by family and hospice at Aspen Ridge Alzheimer's Special care center. She was born on March 29th, 1935 to Ward and Hazel Roby in Craig, Co. She was the youngest of 5 children (Margy, Dorothy, Ada, and Chuck) who have all preceded her in death. She grew up on a farm in Cedaredge. Mom spent her school years at Cedaredge and was a baton twirler in High School. Alice married Dale B. Morton on June 3rd, 1951 in Delta. They spent their honeymoon in Ouray. Our parents were married 66 years before our dad passed away in 2017. They had 5 children- George Morton (Donna) of Clifton CO, Garry Morton (deceased), Rita Morton Currey (Dan) of Whitewater CO, Bonnie Morton Kellerby (Terry) of Grand Junction CO, and Sharon Morton of Delta CO. Then came 12 Grandchildren (1 deceased) and 19 Great Grandchildren.

Alice was a homemaker who always loved having family and friends come visit and everyone enjoyed her homemade bread, delicious meals and ice cream. Mom and Dad visited almost all of the states and to Canada several times.

Alice ran an in-home daycare for 12 years. She loved doing that as well as knitting, playing cards, golfing (a hole-n-one on the 13th hole at Tiara Rado), fishing, camping, hunting, bowling, reading, gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching baseball (us kids, grand kids, and great grand kids, JUCO and the Colorado Rockies), and just spending time visiting with her many loved ones.

There will be a direct committal at the Veterans Memorial Park for the family on May 20th, 2022 at 10 AM. A celebration of life will be held at the Mesa County Fairgrounds Community Building also on May 20th starting at 12:30 PM. We hope all who knew and loved our mom will be able to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to HopeWest would be appreciated.

You are greatly missed mom. Alzheimer's may have ravaged your mind and body but not your love and soul.
